Lakefront Brewery is a microbrewery based in the Beerline B neighborhood of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Founded in 1987 by brothers Russ and Jim Klisch, several of its brands are named after Milwaukee neighborhoods, such as Riverwest Stein Beer and East Side Dark. The brewery often uses Wisconsin-grown ingredients, including Door County cherries. The brewery is noted for its gluten-free brand, New Grist, which is brewed using sorghum and gluten-free yeast. The brewery successfully petitioned the U.S. Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau to allow this product to be called a beer despite not having the previously required 25% malted barley content. The Brewery also has a strong presence at Summerfest in Milwaukee, featuring its own pavilion selling a variety of its brews, including New Grist. St. Francis Brewery boasts a brand new 7,200-sq. ft. building housing a brewery, bar area, dining room and banquet facilities. Everything from individual beers to sandwiches and salads on the dining room menu is tagged with a local name to pay homage to St. Francis. Sprecher Brewery is a brewery founded in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, by Randal Sprecher in 1985. Sprecher produces an assortment of beers and sodas. The brewery has since moved to the neighboring city of Glendale in Milwaukee County. Despite producing a full range of micro-brewed craft beers, the brewery is arguably best known for its premium sodas. Sprecher Root Beer and Orange Dream are Milwaukee staples, and kegs of the root beer are ubiquitous at special events throughout Milwaukee and can be found on tap or from a soda fountain at area restaurants (e.g., Kopp’s Frozen Custard). Sprecher sodas are renowned for their taste, non-alcoholic qualities, and quality ingredients (for instance: Sprecher Ginger Ale is a golden ginger ale that uses real, locally-grown ginger). Sprecher brews more root beer than all of their alcoholic beers combined. One of the most unusual aspects of their root beer is that raw Wisconsin honey is used as a primary ingredient. What that means is we are independantly owned and produce our product. Our company is an actual handful of us in Milwaukee Wisconsin that love everything about what we do for a living. Building a Brewery. After unsuccessful attempts to package our popular beer brands at other breweries in Wisconsin, Milwaukee Brewing Company decided to forge ahead and build a new packaging brewery in the city of Milwaukee. Milwaukee Brewing Company’s 2nd Street Brewery is a craft brewer’s dream, melding authentic hands-on technique with state-of-the-art quality control features. We’re often questioned about the origin of our name. Our story has it that “Spanish Fly Brewing” sounded too clumsy. Another says it was a bet at a card game. A third we’ve been advised by our lawyers not to discuss. While each rendition may have some truth to them, what it really boils down to is quite simple: Beer is fun. Brewing is fun. Drinking beer with your buddies is fun. So why not a name that’s fun? After all, we’re in the business of helping people enjoy life. And we take our business very seriously. Our beers are craft brewed for Old World taste and new world refreshment. Savored, slammed or sipped, these beers are also brewed to be sold…and we plan on selling a lot of them! Aggressive marketing campaigns are in place to make sure Horny Goat Beer is on the radar of beer purchasers across the nation. Radio commercials, point-of-sale, guerilla tactics, swag, social media, you name it ‘cause we plan on growing, and growing large quickly. Kind of like a horny goat.
